State Incontinence Assistance Schemes

There are several types of funding available from the Australian Government with differing eligibility criteria for each.  Below we have provided a brief guide to each of the different aids available with direct links to more information and application forms.

The CAPS payment amount for 2014-15 is up to $545.80 indexed annually.

ENABLE

Eligibility

A NSW resident with permanent moderate to severe incontinence and equipment needs greater than would be covered by CAPS funding for consumers eligible for CAPS or consumer is not eligible for CAPS.

Assistance Amount (2016 – 2017)

The CAPS payment rate for 2016-17 is up to $572.30. The payment is indexed each year, meaning it may slightly increase or decrease following the Government’s Budget process.

CMASS – WA

Eligibility

Applicant must be a permanent WA resident, have ongoing continence conditions and be financially disadvantaged.

A professional continence advisor will clinically assess each client. Contact Silver Chain on 1300 787 055 to arrange an assessment.

National Continence Helpline

The National Continence Helpline is a free over the phone advisory service funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.

The helpline is staffed by a team of continence nurses who provide free confidential and professional advice for people living with incontinence, their carers and organisations with an interest in continence management for anyone residing within Australia.

The National Continence Helpline operates between 8am to 8pm EST, five days a week on 1800 33 00 66.

CAPS – Continence Aids Payment Scheme

Eligibility

A person must be 5 years of age or older and have a permanent and severe loss of bladder and/or bowel function due to:

1. An eligible neurological condition: Or 2

2. A number of other eligible criteria and the person has or is entitled to Centrelink Pensioner Concession and either a dependent or primary card holder: Or 3

3. A number of other eligible criteria and the person has a Department of Veteran Affairs Pensioner Concession Card, and either a dependent or primary card holder.
